What doyou mean by “post-digital”?HAR:A few years ago a bunch of tools26ABOVE:Visual designguru Neville Brodyappeared at last year’sOFFF in BarcelonaABOVE (L-R):Creativeofferings from threeof this year’s big-nameOFFF exhibitors –Stefan Sagmeister,Scott Hansen andJames Pattersonappeared on the artistic scene – digital toolsbased on the versatility of computers to dotasks. This year has been a kind ofexperimental playground and now we havereached a position where the digital tools arejust tools. They are not the reason for art,but the way some people make art.CA:Who has appeared at past events?HAR:Last year we invited Neville Brody. He didn’t believe he was going to impressthemselves. Some of them have grown upwith OFFF. Inklude (www.inklude.com)started at Openroom and is now one of theguests at OFFF. We are really proud becausesome people send us grateful emails forgiving them exposure. This is one of the bestsides of managing an event like this.CA:Many designers are doingexperimental audio work right now. Howdoes this fit into your vision for OFFF?“Last year we invited Neville Brody. He didn’tbelieve he would impress, but people left thevenue with tears in their eyes”HECTOR AYUSO ROSOFFF’s public, but at the end of theconference everyone left the venuesurprised and moved and he was reallyimpressed by the general reaction. Atthe end of the presentation somepeople had tears in their eyes.CA:Have you ever managed todiscover any new talents through OFFF?HAR:We have an area in the festivalcalled Openroom, which is an open spacefor new artists and agencies to promoteHAR:Music has always been a part ofOFFF. I am conscious that the relationshipbetween the visual artists invited to OFFFand the music is really diverse, but what weall have in common is that music is animportant element in our work, not just asan applied tool but as a generator ofinspiration and motivation.INFOOFFF BCN takes place in Barcelona from11-13 May 2006.
